Dans cette contribution on présente l'intérêt d'une analyse qualitative de l'activité pour comprendre et expliquer les choix d'un individu placé dans une situation problématique. En référence à la modélisation de la résolution de problèmes artificiels conçus en laboratoire (problèmes à transformation d'états), on montre comment une telle analyse permet d'identifier les processus cognitifs à l'origine des différences de performances et comment elle peut contribuer à l'établissement d'un diagnostic cognitif individualisé. Mots clés : analyse de protocoles individuels, résolution de problème, processus cognitifs Abstract The purpose of this paper is to present the interest of a qualitative analysis of some one being confronted to any problem-solving situation in order to understand and explain his choices. With reference to the models of human behavior in problem-solving situations, we show how such an analysis serves to identify cognitive processes which are responsible for the differences of performance, and how it can contribute to the elaboration of an individualised cognitive diagnostic.
