Le traître en politique : : une figure intemporelle, pluridisciplinaire et polymorphe

Abstract : This file aims at questioning the figure of the traitor – in the broadest sense of the term, in internal as well as in external politics – from Ancient History to nowadays. What role does the traitor play in politics? How do those who lead us make use of treason? Do they all have a propensity to become traitors or to be victims of treason? Is betrayal necessarily a deliberate choice or can it also be a desperate act to reach one’s goal? How does an individual become a traitor in eyes of his peers? Historians, sociologists, political scientists, linguists, Cultural Studies researchers, philosophers and jurists are trying throughout this file to answer those extant questions that are all the more legitimate since they seem to recur in a hectic topicality: political scandals, demonstrations – Yellow vests, anti-vaxxers or opponents to Covid-19 health pass- but also the rise of populism in Europe, all being elements attesting a general mistrust against political elites who have lost their credibility and are accused of betraying people’s interest.
